The Brooklyn-based furniture design manufacturer recently teamed with crystal mogul Swarovski to create limited “Crystallized” editions of two of their most popular accents tables, the Omni and the Z. Each piece is hand made, numbered, and thoroughly adorned in multi-faceted, glittering crystals. The tables are available in white or black, in either a matte or high-polish finish.

A group of editors from varying global design magazines voted this weekend for their favorite exhibitors and products at this year’s 22nd annual International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF) in New York. Honored at the ICFF Exhibitors Reception, 16 lucky companies took home the 2010 ICFF Editors Awards.

Each year, Wilsonart sponsors the Wilsonart Challenges student design scholarship program to foster the careers of emerging furniture designers across the country. The competition challenges students at a specific design school to create a unique chair that incorporates the shape of the Wilsonart Laminate sample chip. For 2010, Wilsonart set its sights on the students at Pratt Institute and welcomed their fresh ideas for the annual event.

The Italian furniture heavyweight may not be showing on the ICFF floor this year, but Moroso sure can throw a party. New York Design Week attendees spilled out of their Greene Street showroom next to Moss and the brand new FLOS location in SoHo last night. The showroom highlight of the evening: two delectable Paper Planes chairs by Doshi Levien—their first time in the U.S. following a 2010 Salone Internazionale del Mobile launch.

The hottest party in Brooklyn last night was no doubt the Omni+ Furniture kick-off at Two Jakes in Williamsburg. Launched this past February, Omni+ is the work of four new designers hailing from Phoenix, Arizona who are coming out of the barrel with a bang. The quartet has already collaborated with Karim Rashid on two pieces from their introductory line of modern media furnishings and more special collaborations are in the works.
