Fatboy and W Hotel Bring Outdoor Movies to LA

Starting this Friday at sunset and running through September 2, the W Hotel Los Angeles will play host to the yearly outdoor film festival “Show Me the Movies!” The series benefits the Make a Wish Foundation—and this year film-goers will get the added perk of plush seating by groovy furniture-maker Fatboy, whose comfy knapsack and avenue lounging units will be perched poolside around the W’s heated WET pool.
This is the fifth in the annual Show Me series, and its promoters promise it will be a “drive-in theater” experience, with multiple 50-inch plasma televisions as well as a single mega-sized projection screen. The films will range from “Toy Story 3″ to “The Social Network” to “Eat Pray Love,” with snacks on offer from chef Dakota Weiss.
The Fatboy seating modules will add a little casual class to the proceedings: the avenue model is a simple cushy block that can be built into various configurations, while the knapsack is a kind of 21st-century picnic blanket, perfect for lazing around out-of-doors. Best of all, attendees can take in the chairs, the pool, and all the films for absolutely nothing—admission is free, though it’s recommended you show up early (or you can reserve a cabana in advance).
