Although tiny, Marset USA‘s New York redesigned showroom packed quite the wallop at its unveiling last Thursday. Guests  spilled out into the hallway while others braved the throng to squeeze their way through the crowd to look closer at the Barcelona-based company’s signature lights lining the walls.

The showroom’s highlight was clearly a huge white dome-like ceiling light that hung low enough to touch. One guest decided to tempt fate and see if the weighty looking pendant would move if gently pushed. (It did and was found to be much less substantial than otherwise thought.)  ”Well,” laughed one guest, “at least we don’t have to worry about it falling and crushing us.”

Many guests, however, were more concerned about finding room in the crowded space to enjoy the traditional tapas being offered without being jostled into dropping the bite-size morsels on themselves or another guest. Still even when the inevitable happened, it was quickly laughed off and guests returned to having a fun, relaxed time.

Marset USA Inc.’s showroom is at 20 West 22 St., New York, NY 10010.
