This year’s 27th annual Hall of Fame inductees represent the full spectrum of the interiors industry ranging from design to products. The four inductees will join a list of past luminaries who have been honored at the celebrated November 30th gala in New York City.
Kicking off this year’s list is Milan-based designer and architect Patricia Urquiola. One of the most prolific designers of her generation, Urquiola’s design studio focuses on product design, architecture and interiors. Her most recent work includes projects for B&B Italia, Kartell, Foscarini, Moroso and Alessi, to name a few. Careful to work in harmony with the highest academic standard, Urquiola consciously considers the impact that her products have on the consumer, while pushing the envelope with form and color.
Redefining a modern, understated sensibility is interior designer David Kleinberg’s trademark, a trademark that has given him entree to the Hall of Fame. With a sophisticated clientele that looks to him for tranquil living spaces, the designer responds with, as he says, “people-ready rooms.” Kleinberg’s talents were honed during his 16-year tenure at the famed Parish-Hadley Associates before he struck out on his own in 1997, creating his his own firm, David Kleinberg Design Associates.
Also on this year’s list is Nada Andric, who recently completed a near decade’s worth of work on the world’s tallest building, Burj Kalifa in Dubai. Upon joining Skidmore Owings & Merrill in 1992, Andric has focused her extensive design experience on large-scale global architecture and interior design projects. Not surprisingly, her vast design accomplishments have been recognized with an array of international design awards.
Long overdue for his Interior Design Hall of Fame ranking, importer and curator George Beylerian has worked tirelessly for more than 40 years to nurture design in the U.S. and abroad. As founder of Material ConneXion and Culture & Commerce, Beylerian continues to shape the face of design and material innovation in the 21st century. A frequent speaker on both domestic and international design issues, Beylerian will accept this year’s Special Award.
Hosted by Interior Design‘s Allen, the 27th annual Hall of Fame will be held November 30th at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York City with all proceeds going to benefit the Council for Interior Design Accreditation and The Alpha Workshops. Tickets for the event, sponsored by Kohler Interiors Group, are $630 and can be purchased through Regina Freedman.
