Carte Blanche by Patricia Urquiola
If you were given limitless possibilities, how would you personalize a white, letter-sized sheet of DuPont Corian?
The surface manufacturer posed this concept to 25 renowned designers from across the globe in effort to curate an original exhibit honoring the 25th anniversary of French design magazine Intramuros. The exhibit, aptly titled “Carte Blanche,” showcases distinctive works produced from a single A4 sheet of Corian Designer White. In conjunction with the magazine’s silver celebration, selected designers were chosen from the last five years of the publication’s cover stories.
“It is incredible what can happen when you let the world’s most prominent designers play with Corian,” said Elizabeth Lawson, commercial marketing manager DuPont Building Innovations. “DuPont seeks to support and inspire the international architecture and design community, and our collaboration with Intramuros is a perfect example of that commitment. From up-and-coming designers to fixtures on the international design scene, DuPont aims to help architects and designers make their mark on the world, one design at a time.”
Launched during ICFF, the show runs from May 17 through July 2, 2010 at the DuPont Corian Design Studio in New York. In October, Carte Blanche will travel to the DuPont Corian Design Studio in Philadelphia’s Marketplace Design Center as part of DesignPhiladelphia 2010.
