Lighting Firm ILEX Acquires Davis/Muller

ILEX Architectural Lighting—makers of sconces, standards, ceiling pendants, and more—is making a play for increased market share with its acquisition this month of Boston-based Davis/Muller, a firm with a similar portfolio of office space and hospitality products for the commercial and design-trade markets.
Post-acquisition, the Davis/Muller partnership will still maintain some of its original identity: while manufacturing will be moved to ILEX’s 72,000-square-foot plant in Taunton, Massachusetts the smaller firm will continue to distribute and sell its lighting lines under its own name. This would appear to be part of a deliberate bid by ILEX to beef up its relative stature in the design marketplace, crowding out the competition by diversifying its brand presence. As ILEX CEO Alan Indursky put it, “Both brands allow us to expand our outstanding project support and exceptional customization capabilities to satisfy the specific demands of commercial, hospitality, retail, or commercial [sic] environments.”
Added Indursky, “We welcome the Davis/Muller team to the family.”
