TonyChi and Associates Wins IIDA Best in Competition

New York-based interiors specialists Tony Chi and Associates have been declared Best in Competition in the 2011 IIDA Interior Design Competition. The yearly prize, doled out by the International Interior Design Association (IIDA) in collaboration with Interior Design magazine, recognizes TCA’s design for the Andaz 5th Avenue Hotel in midtown Manhattan. Chi was feted along with other honorees at the IIDA COOL Gala in Chicago on June 12.

Also recognized were firms Gensler, for their Nokia offices in Sunnyvale, California; Clive Wilkinson Architects of West Hollywood for their project One Shelley Street in Sydney, Australia; Aidlin Darling Design for Bar Agricole in San Francisco; Gabellini Sheppard Associates for their David Yurman Townhouse in New York; ZGF Architects for their John E. Jaqua Academic Center for Student Athletes at the University of Oregon; and San Francisco’s Sand Studios, whose Patient and Resource Center for their hometown earned them the coveted Will Ching Design Competition award, recognizing “outstanding commercial design by firms of five or fewer individuals.” These firms and others were selected from among over 400 practices who submitted work in a diverse array of categories including hospitality, commercial, institutional, and residential.

Among the distinguished figures adjudicating the competition were  Carl D’Aquino of D’Aquino Monaco; Stanford Hughes, IIDA, of Brayton & Hughes Design Studio; and Anita Barnett, FIIDA.
