Karim, Water Jet Cutting, Ceramic Wood: NeoCon’s 7th Floor

The 7th floor at the Merchandise Mart is jam-packed with booths by smaller companies. But don’t let size fool you—we saw great things.

Raymond Moore and Matt Karlin at Nemo Tile
At Nemo Tile, debuting at this year’s NeoCon, we swore we were standing on wood planks, but it was actually ceramic. It’s called Bioessenze and it’s made of 40 percent preconsumer-recycled content to boot.

New collections from Stone Source
We then came upon a booth boasting circles in squares, oh my. Stone Source is launching new water-jet cut technology on Atlantic bluestone and on glass made of recycled content. It looked like art.

Karim Rashid's Chakra chair for Raynor Contract
Equally artistic is the Chakra chair by Karim Rashid, his first collaboration with Raynor Contract. Chakra is the Hindi term for the body’s power centers. We’re not sure about power, but the Chakra chair sure is comfortable, and available in colors that will get creative juices flowing. Next stop: 8th floor!

Love the Circles on a Square. We too have incorporated this into our designs for a few years now.

Wish Karim can resolve the swivel legs of the chair. Probably it's a cost concern. Oh well.
