Barbara Bestor Adds 12 Cities to SoLA

Sisters of Los Angeles (SoLA), a new Los Angeles-based gifts and modern memorabilia company, will expand its collection with 12 additional city themes this spring.
Founded by Bestor Architecture founder Barbara Bestor, product development specialist Katen Alweil and lifestyle publicist Sara Stein, SoLA celebrates the city’s natural environment with products that are designed and made in L.A.
“We started to collaborate last year with the idea of making well designed mementos of and for the city we love and call home, Los Angeles,” says Bestor. The architect calls graphic design “thrilling in a very different way than making architectural spaces is thrilling.”
SoLA has now created glassware, mugs, totes, tees and candles celebrating New York and its Burroughs, the Hamptons, San Francisco, Las Vegas, Palm Springs, Seattle, Portland, Miami, Chicago, Atlanta, Boston and Washington, D.C. Prices range from $5.50-$75.
Bestor adds, “I always like to find new ways of designing and this was my first chance to try out product design, work in the graphic realm, and sort of celebrate L.A. and its natural beauty through objects and gifts.”
