For those who haven’t been, a jaunt to Socrates Sculpture Park in Long Island City is a must. In addition to being a super-serene waterfront setting right near the Noguchi Museum, last weekend, it was the site of the second annual Makers Market, an open-air marketplace of superb American craft and design. Among the well and tightly curated collection of offerings were works by two eco-minded designers: BMW Ironworks’s corkscrews and bottle openers forged from found steel railroad spikes and DMFD’s chairs and bowls of recycled waste cork.

Additional standouts of the 28 participants were glasswork by Thaddeus Wolfe; wood clocks by Palo Samko; Eric Bonnin‘s ceramic vases and necklaces; found chairs reupholstered in Elyse Allen’s crystal-studded wool; lighting and chairs by Works Manufacturing; unique jewelry by Jane D’Arensbourg and Satomi Kawakita; and fabuloulsy chunky wood cuffs and rings by Hugo França.
