Mannington's Natalie Jones builds suspense before announcing the 2010 Tx:stlye winners.
There’s no sign of a sophomore slump with round two of Mannington Commercial’s annual Tx:style competition. The flooring manufacturer showcased the stunning work of seven designers under the age of 30 in their 10th-floor showroom at this year’s NeoCon World’s Trade Fair in Chicago.
Voting was open until Monday evening, upon which voters could cast their ballots for the two winning spots on one of several new iPads the company was raffling.

Eagerly awaiting the results were the six finalists teams comprised of Blue Matrix by Athena Abrol of Los Angeles; Gus by Bethany Burton of Minneapolis; Rainfall by Laurel Peters-Harrison of Los Angeles; Throw Caution to the Wind by Heather Miller of Charlotte, North Carolina; Thirds by Joanne Titcomb of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania; and Tracks, by a team of Samantha Gotta and Jenny Song of Los Angeles.
The two designs that took home the people’s majority vote were Blue Matrix by Athena Abrol and Rain by Laurel Peters-Harrison.

Winners Athena Abrol for Blue Matrix and Laurel Peters-Harrison for Rain.
“The Tx:style Mannington competition came at the right time for me to launch my plan to become a product designer. This has been a terrific experience in opening the doors, launch notoriety, and create awareness of my ability to design a great product,” said Abrol. “In the long run, I want to be able to create responsible, yet remarkable product and Mannington has given me the platform to launch my career in that direction.”
“I feel very lucky to be one of the winners, particularly due to the other entries of talented designers and the innovative selection process,” added Peters-Harrison. “I am very excited to continue working with Mannington to bring Rainfall from concept into production. Thank you Mannington for such an incredible and unique opportunity!”
