Blu Dot Opens West Coast Showroom in LA

Blu Dot, the Minnesotan furniture-makers and affordable-design retailers, have opened up their first West Coast branch. Located at 8000 Melrose Avenue in West Hollywood, Blu Dot’s new 35000-square-foot Los Angeles storefront will showcase the company’s growing catalog of furniture, and off-beat housewares and accessories.
The new venue, which opened to the public June 9, is located cheek-by-jowl with a number of high-end shopping destinations in the district (Jonathan Adler and Paul Smith, inter alia) inside a sunny, open-plan space that feels echt La La Land. Complimenting the 150-plus original chairs, tables, and lighting fixtures available within, the store will also feature a rotating collection of suitably irreverent curios and tchotchkies for the modern home and office, “riffing off the quirky nature” of Blu Dot’s original design objects.
The new outlet is the second dedicated storefront for the popular line, following their downtown New York debut in 2008. Scads of other retailers across the nation also carry Blu Dot products, all of them emanating from the firm’s factory/studio in scenic downtown Minneapolis.
