“Dressed” is the name of the new kitchenware line from design mega-manufacturer Alessi—and tonight, it’s also the name of a public launch event at Alessi’s SoHo location, a salute to the new collection that includes a video by Marcel Wanders along with a Q&A with the popular Dutch designer.

The “Dressed” series debuted in January at the New York International Gift Fair (NYIGF), and Alessi is showcasing the collection to coincide with ICFF buzz. The complete table-setting line includes silverware, dishes, and glasses whose steel, porcelain, and crystal surfaces have been worked into delicate, elegant forms that evoke the refined tradition of 18th-century northern European earthenware. ”Dressed” also marks the first time that Wanders has designed for the venerable Italian manufacturer.

Paolo Cravedi, managing director of Alessi USA, says the firm is “extremely pleased that we are able to work with [Wanders] further on this first-ever event and installation. Marcel’s name is one of the most recognized in the design world today and we feel privileged to be able to work with him and to welcome him to our store during New York’s biggest design gathering.”

The event runs from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Alessi SoHo store at 130 Greene St. near Prince; it will be preceded at 5.30 by the Q&A with select blogger participants.
