When a heat wave blankets the country, people from East Coast to West go in search of a cinematic retreat. This summer’s chilly hit: “Mr. Popper’s Penguins.” The film, while featuring Jim Carey in the lead role, showcases a bright young talent, Duravit’s Vero Collection.
As Mr. Popper’s wealthy business-oriented lifestyle drastically changes upon inheriting six Gentoo penguins from his deceased father, his lavish New York City apartment gets a wintery makeover.
Finding a cool respite in Popper’s bathroom, the Vero collection beckons the penguins toward their contoured wash bins, toilets, and bathtubs, with their snowy white glares. While one penguin paddles and flutters about in the built-in tub, viewers can ogle at the sharp, narrow edges of the free-standing Vero toilet, complete with a penguin peaking out of it.
From a collection that began from three initial wash bins, the clean-cut rectangular shapes allowed the vision of the collection to soar on the big screen, and toward its designer-favorite industry status today.
