Lamps Plus Launches Tool to Create Customized Lighting Fixtures

Traditionally a consumer lighting hot spot, lighting retailer Lamps Plus is reaching out to the trade with a new interactive design tool. The company recently launched “Design Your Own,” an online product for the design community to create completely customized lighting fixtures to suit any projec from contract to residential.
Designers are invited to visit lampsplus.com/design-it and select a product type—options range from ceiling lights to pendants to table, floor, and wall lamps. Then, customize the shade, working from an array contemporary and traditional pattern options, and, finally, select colors to meet needed specifications using a color palette that can display color trends or specify PMS colors, RGB values, hues, and saturation. The tool also features dozens of patterns from praised designers, including Kathy Ireland and Stacy Garcia.
“Lamps Plus lets designers put their own signature on their designs and create a one-of-a-kind lamp or light fixture that is customized to match the rest of their décor,” said Dennis Swanson, CEO of Lamps Plus.
Each customized lighting fixture is produced on demand—resulting in limited material waste—and hand-assembled by a team of artisans in Los Angeles.

We’ve also just launched a Design Your Own tool for wall art. There are dozens of customizable images to choose from.
Designers can change the colors in the images in any way they wish using a color swatch tool to specify PMS colors, RGB values, hue, saturation, etc.
Color values can be matched to current color trends or coordinated with a design project’s color palette.
