Maya RomanoffWall-coverings manufacturer Maya Romanoff has had an exciting last few years, with recent happenings ranging from moving into a new corporate headquarters and factory to celebrating its 40th anniversary. Now the company has opened a flagship showroom in Chicago. Located in the Design Center at The Merchandise Mart, the space boasts a clean and engaging aesthetic by local firm Design Collaboratives—who incidentally is behind the attractive renovation of the Mart’s Antron showroom as well.

Incorporating preliminary ideas from award-winning Rockwell Group, the design studio created innovative custom displays throughout the space, such as a 60-foot-long brand and product entryway. Maya Romanoff—whose beginnings were actually inspired by tie-dye shirts Romanoff encountered at Woodstock—has cultivated a wide range of fashionable color offerings. The showroom’s warm and neutral palette is a complementary canvas for showcasing them.

“Our showroom is a total experience,” said Joyce Romanoff, president of the company. “Visitors are immersed in the materials and gain a wholly different understanding of the impact of our wall coverings and fabrics.”

With the new showroom come new products. Maya Romanoff is launching Fabricadazzle, a recycled polyester covering that’s inspired by natural fiber weaves; Flexi Mother of Pearl Brick, a more flexible version of the company’s Mother of Pearl design; and Polyhide Collection Lightning, a green alternative to metallic leather. The showroom is located in Mart suite 6-167.
