Must-See TV: High Design Gets the “Portlandia” Treatment
by Deborah Wilk | Tuesday, April 19, 2011 | 1 Comment
Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein’s IFC television series, “Portlandia,” is pitch-perfect, take-no-prisoners comedy. But we never thought we’d see the projects of our own industry—not to mention our favorite clients—so brilliantly spoofed. Watch Intelligent Design and sculptor Patrick Dougherty’s 2007 office for advertising agency Wieden + Kennedy get a ribbing, then read Jen Renzi’s review of the project, published shortly after it opened.
Want more? Jeremy Pelley and Philip Iosca’s Ace Hotel—renamed the Deuce by show writers—gets similar treatment, and read Sheila Kim-Jamet’s 2007 look at the Portland property and Nicholas Tamarin’s piece on Roman and Williams’s 2009 New York edition.
