Every year for the past 37 years, the Kips Bay Decorator Show House raises close to $1 million annually for after-school and enrichment programs for more than 13,000 youths at 10 locations in the Bronx, New York through the non-profit Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club while also displaying the talents of some of the world’s best designers. This year will be no different, as designers including Interior Design Hall of Famer Vicente Wolf, Jennifer Post, Robert Couturier, Katie Ridder, and Noel Jeffrey begin a seven-week renovation on 17 rooms in a six-story, 10,000-square-foot townhouse at 106 East 71st Street in New York’s fabled Upper East Side.
For the first time ever though, the house will be on view in the fall. It will open to the public from October 14 thru November 11 and kick-off with a black-tie president’s preview and dinner hosted by Michael Bruno and another Interior Design Hall of Fame member, Jamie Drake, on October 7, along with an opening night gala on October 13.
“The first time I participated in a Kips Bay show house was 19 years ago,” says Wolf. “And I’m happy to say that I’m just as excited about doing it again this year as I was back then! I am exhilarated that it’s happening in the fall for the first time. The townhouse is both beautiful and elegant.”
